No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved without an exam, the process, and what happens if you do need one.
Many carriers have created accelerated underwriting: for younger applicants and reasonable amounts, they decide using the form, prescriptions, driving history and other records rather than sending someone to exam. Some answer in hours. Each quote here says whether the carrier requires an exam, might, or does not.
What it changes
Skipping the exam is not the same as skipping underwriting. Your answers get checked, and a policy issued on false answers can be voided in the first two years. If the carrier's data raises questions, they may ask for an exam or blood work; you decide then whether to go ahead.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people under around 60 who apply for amounts up to what the carrier allows, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use in the past year or more. If your doctor has done recent blood work, some carriers will accept those results without an extra exam.
If an exam is needed, it is usually a visit lasting 20 to 30 minutes at your home or workplace in the San Clemente region, at no charge. Good results can often bump you to a better rate class, so an exam is not always bad news.
